So, I pretty much worry about Koby as much as I do about Julian. Koby has so many health issues and was recently diagnosed with Thyroid Disease. I created these Turmeric Collagen Fat Bombs as a healthy, healing treat for my old man.

This past weekend, a visit to the groomer led us to the vet for $480 visit. Thankfully, it wasn’t a Foxtail as the groomer thought. Yeah, I was pretty much freaking out about that. From what I’ve read, Foxtails can be deadly because they bury into the skin and require surgery to be removed.

However, Koby does have an infection in his paw that needed to be cleaned out. Of course, as usual, he has ear and skin infections as well. He’s now on 5 different medications. The great news is, I can tell Koby is already feeling better because he sprinted back to the house today. He never runs!!

I know Koby is getting older, but breaks my heart to think of the day he will no longer join me in the kitchen.

And I certainly never want to think of him as being in pain.

By now, you have heard of Fat Bombs. If not, you’re living under a rock. It’s basically all part of the current high fat, low carb food fad. Fat bombs are supposed to fill you up, so you eat less. And accordingly, healthy fats help you fight fat. Plus, some fats are actually good for you!

I’ve been putting Coconut Oil in Koby’s food ever since I read about all the amazing ways it can help dogs. For instance, it’s good for arthritis, dry skin, bad breath, boosting energy, as well as balancing the Thyroid. The best part is, all these benefits apply to humans as well;)

In order to make these treats as beneficial as possible, I added Turmeric and Collagen Powder to the mix. Collagen is another nutritional powerhouse that helps the body maintain healthy bones, joints, skin, hair, ligaments, and even the gut.

Of course, I’ve written about the many benefits of Turmeric. Myself, I put Turmeric in everything. And my Cranberry Turmeric Muffins are a big hit with Koby. Not surprisingly, Koby will eat the entire batch in one sitting. But I really try to limit his intake to one treat per day.
