No doubt about it, we’ve all been exposed to Heavy Metals such as lead, mercury and/or aluminum. If you eat fish regularly, eat non-organic fruits and veggies, have Amalgam fillings or just drink tap water, you probably have some unwanted metals floating around your body. It’s important to detox the body because long term exposure can cause serious problems like Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. These Heavy Metal Detox Muffins are chock full of detoxing ingredients.
Heavy Metal Detox Muffins
I recently had All of my Amalgam fillings removed. I’ve been doing my research and I knew it was time. But boy, it was not only was it expensive, it was also quite a day. My mouth was so sore from keeping it open so long. I had 14 silver fillings!!! And most of the them were from my childhood! When you think about it, that’s 30 or so years that I’ve had mercury leeching into my bloodstream. Not good.
After my trip to the dentist, I did a lot of research on Heavy Metal Detox. I was afraid that I might have swallowed some of the mercury while my dentist was removing my fillings. The articles I found listed different food ingredients, but 2 kept coming up consistently: Chlorella and Cilantro. Here’s a great article about both of these and their many benefits. Fermented foods (like Miso), Watercress, Aloe Vera and Wild Blueberries were also mentioned frequently.
With that, I (surprise, surprise) decided to create a muffin recipe with these ingredients. These Heavy Metal Detox Muffins are not only great for detoxing, but they also taste good. Even if you’re not detoxing, they are full of excellent, high nutrient ingredients. I made sure they are Vegan and Gluten Free as well. Look at that beautiful green color! I should have made these for St. Patrick’s Day.
